MIGHTYMAN MONTAUK (OLYMPIC)
TRIATHLON FESTIVAL RACE DETAILS
A BIG event! Our annual festival of races! One of the few metro area races that offers three triathlon distances to accommodate all race levels and interests.
SWIM: The swim is an out-and-back in Fort Pond. This is a fresh water pond and water temperature is typically in the mid-to-upper 60’s. Wetsuits are recommended but not mandatory.
BIKE: The bike course is scenic with rolling hills and beautiful ocean and bay views. It has 1100 feet of total elevation gain.
RUN: The run course is challenging and hilly with 403 feet of total elevation gain.
AQUABIKE: Racers complete the swimming and cycling portions of the race. After finishing the the bike course, just rack the bike and trot across the finish line for your finish time.
Bikes allowed: Road bike, time trial, mountain bike or hybrid. Sorry, no tandem or recumbent bikes.
Fort Pond, a freshwater pond has the potential to spawn blue algae. If our water testing indicates there is blue green algae in Fort Pond, we have a back up plan in place with the swim at Navy Beach.

Correct Bib# Body Placement for Photos: See next section
Correct Bib# Placement on Body & Bike
Keep Your Bib# Clearly Visible!
For the best results with photo tagging and searching, the photographers need to clearly see your bib# when taking photos. This will greatly improve your name & bib# photo search results.
Extra body marking will take place right before the race, at the body marking flag!
Please have your bib# placed on:
1-both shoulders, & both leg side calves (both left and right sides)
2-on the front of your bike helmet,
3-on your bike front tube closest to the handle bars, for easy side viewing
4-and on the front of your chest or abdomen, not on your back!
Again, make sure your bib# is clearly visible for the camera!
Your matching name and photos will be identified by your bib#!

Also included are special sections on protests, hearings and appeals, and rules modifications for physically challenged athletes. For full detail on USAT Rules click HERE|

Additional Race Information
NOTE: The Olympic swim course starts to the left of the swim exit. The two courses are separate and there will be no confusion for the athletes. The Olympic bike course is exactly the same as one lap of the Half Iron Distance course with the exception of skipping two out and backs on the return of the loop. These will be marked and staffed.
BIKE SUPPORT PRE-RACE
All athletes are responsible for their own bike.
No outside support is allowed as per USAT rules.
There will be limited bike service (assistance fixing flats, and make a pump available) in front of the main tent from 5:00 – 6:00 a.m.
DURING BIKE SEGMENT
There will be two vehicles roving the bike course to assist with any bike problems. Due to the distance of one loop on the bike course being 25 miles, an athlete may have to wait a short or a long time for assistance. Athletes with on-course bike mechanical problems should attempt to get to the nearest staff person to have them contact support to let them know where they are. This is known as “neutral” support and is the only support allowed on the course. Please be aware that NO other support vehicles are allowed on the course. Athletes may NOT provide their own support vehicles (cars, motorcycles, joggers or bikes). Outside assistance jeopardizes the safety of athletes and is grounds for penalty. Please help staff keep the event safe by spreading the word to family, friends and spectators that they should stay at the race site for viewing and cheering and if they wish to workout by running or biking, they should run in town, and/or west on Montauk Highway to ensure they do not interfere with the race. Thank you for your understanding.
Bikes allowed: Road bike, time trial, mountain bike or hybrid. (Sorry, no tandem or recumbent bikes!)
THE RUN SEGMENT
The Olympic run course is exactly the same as one lap of the Half Distance course with omitting one small section that will be well marked and staffed during the race making it simple for the athletes to do the correct course.
RUN FUEL STATIONS (water and full service alternating)
There will be a water stop at every 1.5 mile mark. Every other water stop will be full service with water, Ultima Replenisher and Coke.
We are offering an Aqua Bike for the Olympic and Half distance triathlons! Want to swim and bike but your body is telling you not to run? Sign up for the Aqua Bike and still be a part of the festival of races!
Instead of going out on the run course, you can cross the finish line after you bike and be greeted by the EventPower team.
Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a discount on their next EventPower race.

RunSignUp has the ability to search for your photos by Bib# or Name. Try it, it’s easy. The photos can also be found by going to your results page on RSU, and clicking on the small photo icon under your name. The bib# tagging is done automatically by google software and is not always perfect. It is being worked on by RSU, to make it better. You can also manually add missing bib#’s yourself, so don’t hesitate to help when the software missed it!
