COURSE
The Smith Point Triathlon starts at Smith Point County Park, with a fast 500 meter Narrow Bay swim and continues on to a flat and fast 20K (12.3 mile) bike ride over the Smith Point Bridge to Wertheim National Refuge and back, followed by a scenic 5K (3.1 mile) run over the bridge ending at the Atlantic Ocean.

BIKE- 20k
One fast, flat loop over Smith Point Bridge to Wertheim National Refuge and back.
Bikes allowed: Road bike, time trial, mountain bike, hybrid or beach cruiser. (Sorry, no tandem or recumbent bikes!)
RUN- 5k
One scenic, flat loop with water stop at the 1.5 mile mark

MANDATORY PACKET PICK UP SCHEDULE:
1) Thursday, August 5th, 4:00-8:00 PM: Modell's Sporting Goods. 2000 Hempstead Tpke, East Meadow, NY 11554.
2) Saturday, August 7th, 12:00-4:00: Mastic Beach Property Owners Association Marina #1, 97 Riviera Drive Mastic Beach, NY 11967.
No packet Pick Up at race site on August 7th or 8th, 2010.
All participants must pick up their own packet. All relay members must pick up their packet together!

A photo ID is required for packet pick up.
All participants must pick up their own race packet, including ALL relay team members.
The Smith Point Sprint Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.
All athletes must have a valid USAT Card. If you do not have one or do not bring it with you to packet pick up, then you must purchase a one day card at packet pick up for $10.
RACE START
First wave is at 6:45 AM, waves will be posted at packet pick up.
RACE DAY
Arrive at race site on Sunday, August 8th by 5:30 AM to set up your bike and get body marked.
CUT-OFF TIMES
• Swim - 30 minutes from start of your wave
• Bike - 1 hour 40 minutes from start of race
• Run - 2 hours 30 minutes from start of race

Top three overall Male & Female
Top three Mixed, Female, Male Relays
Top three Athena (150lbs) & Clydesdale (200lbs) Athletes
Top three Challenged Men & Challenged Women
Top three Civic Challenge (Police, Fire and Military Personnel)
Individual Age Groups; top three in each category.
15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+
Following Race:Awards Ceremony and Raffle. All athletes receive a raffle ticket at the ceremony. Athletes are encouraged to stay for the awards or have someone pick up their award. Awards will only be shipped post event if a pre paid postage envelope for 2 pounds is sent to the race organization within one week of the event.
USAT RULES
All participants in events sanctioned by USA Triathlon must be members of USA Triathlon and be able to present a valid annual membership card or must purchase a USA Triathlon single event permit.
All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete’s age on December 31 of the year of the event.
REFUNDS AND TRANSFER POLICIES
NO REFUNDS.
Registrations may not be transferred to another person.
Registrations may not be transferred to another race.
NO EXCEPTIONS!

REMINDERS
• NO HEADPHONES DURING ANY PART OF THE EVENT or you will be disqualified.
• No helmet, no race.
• Helmet strap must be fastened before taking bike from rack and remain fastened until after bike is replaced.
• No Drafting! Leave three bike lengths unless passing. Stay to your extreme right unless passing.
• Run number must be on front of body during entire run!
• Any unsportsmanlike behavior to other competitors and/or event staff will be dealt with by an immediate disqualification.
