Why We Exist.
EventPower was created as a vehicle to prevent the Mighty Hamptons Triathlon from extinction in 1993. The Mighty Hamptons was one of the premiere endurance events in the world during the early and mid 1980’s. The race was started in 1982, only 4 years after the first ever Hawaii Ironman by Ray Charron and Ambroise Salamini. They were inspired by the Hawaii Ironman and wanted to bring that excitement to Long Island. Right from the first annual Mighty Hamptons, it was a classic.
Racers included most of the elite endurance athletes of the time including Dave Scott who won the race and is a triathlete legend. At the time he only had one Hawaii victory, he went on to win six World Titles. The staff of EventPower brought the Mighty Hamptons back to life and started to add events to the calendar. Ten other Long Island Triathlons have been created by EventPower along the way to help sustain the sports growth and the continuation of the Mighty Hamptons.
Our Committment To Youth
EventPower launched it’s first youth event in 1993 at the Mighty Hamptons, followed by the Mighty North Fork. We currently host 3 youth events annually at venues specifically for youths 9 – 14 years.
We are very excited to have expanded upon this in 2012, in 2013 we added a High School division and Championship at many EventPower venues. We are excited to continue to grow the sport of triathlon with today’s youths, tomorrow’s leaders.
